BCP was contracted to perform a situation appraisal and technical gap analysis multiple operating power stations’ main control room (MCR) and training simulators.
The client was faced with multiple units having 40+ year main control rooms and training simulators. The executive team understood the need to ensure that the MCRs and simulator environments needed upgrade and sought direction on what facility improvements were required to attain best practice to determine the move-forward action plan.
Working as an agent for the client, BCP leveraged the client’s self-assessment and benchmarking programs to provide guidance for reporting and action plans. Assessing original design documents and current industry and engineering standards, and on-site observations at each station BCP provided siting recommendations in seven key elements of the facilities: 1) environmental; 2) human factors and ergonomics; 3) human-system interfaces; 4) equipment and system coding techniques; 5) display design; 6) controls; and 7) Anthropometry (Human Reach, Seating, and Posture).
BCP provided the client results of the assessment and recommendations for near-term, mid-term, and long-term action plans that enable an improvement plan that supports the client’s multi-years project management and capital planning processes.
