Description of Work Scope and Requirements:
Seller’s key personnel shall perform unreviewed safety question (USQ) evaluations and screenings at the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) for plant/system changes, procedure changes, and experiments per ORNL SBMS and the Research Reactors Division (RRD) USQ procedures. Provide analytical support to ensure the proper implementation of nuclear safety requirements per 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and DOE Order 420.1C. Work as part of a team of nuclear safety analysts within RRD, which includes interactions and communications with HFIR Operations, Systems Engineering, and other internal organizations.
*Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline (i.e., nuclear, mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil/structural) REQUIRED plus minimum of 5 years of applicable nuclear safety (i.e., USQ evaluations or NRC equivalent) experience required.
Experience with DOE reactor facilities and associated safety basis regulatory guidance documents (NRC Regulatory Guide 1.70) is highly desired.
Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) expertise is also desired.
Schedule/Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week (remote start, but onsite work required to obtain site qualification)
Duration: 6 – 12 months
