Engineer II, Construction Engineering – SOLAR RENEWABLE ENERGY – Gretna VA 24557
Provide technical input in the disciplines of civil, mechanical, electrical and controls engineering, through various phases of large solar project construction and execution.
The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering reviews of contractor supplied solar plans, responding/review engineering submittals, inspecting construction site from progress, commodity, delivery, and installation tracking, and other various duties.

Candidate may be involved in engineering reviews and assessments assigned by project managers and/or technical leads. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify technical contract scope. Candidate may review detailed engineering drawings and verify construction adherence during field implementation. Candidate will support lead engineers in researching and answering technical questions as requested.
Candidate may perform various support functions for various stages of major projects including construction management, site development, permitting support, scope development, contract negotiations (equipment, engineering or “EPC” engineering, procurement, and construction contracts), construction activities, construction schedule, commissioning and transition to commercial operation. Full knowledge of Microsoft Office software tools required.
Projects are generally large, complex solar projects and could involve smaller improvement projects at existing solar generating facilities.
Candidate may be expected to utilize fundamental engineering principles to perform calculations, analysis, research tasks, or problem solve. Ability to generate RFI’s and NCR’s.
Candidate will be expected to be learn and become familiar with techniques, approaches, and practices used to evaluate options and provide recommendations.
Candidate will be expected to coordinate with experienced managers, project leaders, engineers, safety and environmental personnel, and contractor site teams to develop professional engineering working knowledge.
Candidate will be expected to work on site and report to the assigned Dominion Energy Project Manager.
Education and experience: 4-year engineering degree, or direct related experience in solar engineering, design, and/or construction may be substituted for educational requirements.

Pay Rate: $45 – $49 / HR ST (Time & Half, Double Time when applicable)
Per Diem: $151 (if eligible)
