Position Details:

Prior DOE experience. Position provides an array of procurement engineering, procurement, and warehousing support services that are critical to operations and the success of the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP), and other directorates working together to achieve mission success.

The selected candidate(s) will perform Procurement Engineering activities for Construction Projects and /or Maintenance Activities in support of initiatives in or around LANL’s TA-55. The primary function will be to serve as intermediary between engineering functions and procurement. The successful candidate will be able to effectively interpret technical requirements and present those requirements in a structured manner to allow for efficient procurements.

This candidate will be responsible for extracting technical data from engineering drawings and specifications to ensure materials procured meet design specifications as they pertain to national codes and standards as well as quality requirements. This individual will manage a consolidated bill of materials (CBOM), and interface with procurement and warehousing teams as materials are made available to support facility and programmatic objectives.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with reviewing technical specifications and engineering design drawings to extract technical information.
  • Basic understanding of national codes and standards used to establish material characteristics.
  • Basic knowledge of QA standards and applicability.
  • Ability to handle multiple activities with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Access, Excel & Word, along with experience using other relevant software programs.
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Basic understanding of the supply chain management process and strategies

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

  • Experience with engineering principles and basic technical responsibilities, including design and systems technology.
  • Ability to work independently, and take initiative to perform tasks that will provide succinct communication and guidance to customers and junior personnel.
  • Understanding and experience using QA standards.
  • Familiarity with developing and submitting pre-procurement and submittal evidence packages.
  • Awareness of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Previous materials management experience.
  • Ability to work and function with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with construction disciplines to ate least include electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering technical standards to include ASTM and/or ASME standards.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent 10+ yrs experience
