Electrical Designer – Fermi Nuclear Plant – Newport, MI

Pay range: $65 – $75 / hour (Non-Exempt / 1.5 OT)
PD: $97 / day
Mob / Demob: GSA Mileage

We are looking for an Electrical Designer with strong technical and interpersonal skills to work on complex and challenging projects supporting the Fermi Nuclear Power Plant.  Work will include Field walk-downs and preparation of the following electrical design documents relating to development of Engineering Change Packages to support modifications at the Fermi Nuclear Plant:

  • Above ground conduit and underground duct bank sizing and routing
  • Cable routing and revisions to cable schedules
  • Preparation of schematic, wiring and single line diagrams

Electrical Designer work includes preparation of new drawings as well as modifications to existing plant drawings. Candidate shall be capable of revising these documents with minimum direction, and preparing/revising  electronic drawing files using Microstation CADD software.

Work includes plant walk-downs to review existing installations, layout new/revised equipment and raceways, and to verify that the design was installed correctly by the implementation team.

Candidate must have good oral and written communications skills necessary for working in a team environment. Must be able to take the lead on assigned tasks and provide direction to others for completion of design and drawing updates.

Work includes preparation of new drawings as well as modifications to existing station drawings. Candidate shall be capable of revising these documents with minimum direction and preparing/revising electronic drawing files using Microstation software. Candidate will be on a Project Team communicating and working with other discipline Engineers and Designers, Vendors, Contractors and various members of the client’s organization at the Fermi Plant.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical or CADD Technology, or equivalent
  • 10 years of electrical physical and wiring design for power or heavy industrial projects including 2 years of experience doing plant walk-downs.
  • 5 years of experience using Microstation CADD software for revisions to physical (dimensional) and non-physical (wiring and schematic) diagrams
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain unescorted access to a Nuclear Power Plant

Must have strong skills in the following areas:

  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment

Preferred Requirements:

  •  2 years experience in electrical design for Nuclear power plants
  • Field experience working on modification packages and performing walk-downs at an operating Nuclear Power Plant
  • Experience using Microstation Connect Edition Update 15 and Genesis Solution Suite Software
  • Experience with seismic mounting requirements for electrical material and equipment
