Safety & Quality Director – GA and / or IL (Temp to Direct)
Reports to:  Business Unit President

Work Location:  Bolingbrook, IL (On-Site full time)
Rate: Pay Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate’s requested rate
Hours: Full time – 40 hours per week
Per Diem: $105.00 (preference will go to Local candidates)
Mob / Demob: $500 each

Business Unit and Position Summary:

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in job related discipline (BSME, BSIE, or degree in related technical field) or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing company.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years industry experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years management experience.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing environments is a plus
  • Solid experience with Quality Assurance Programs and industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B&PV Code Section III, 10CFR50 Appendix B, and N45.2)
  • NQA-1 / 10CFR50 Appendix B Auditor Certification is a plus
  • Good leadership, motivational, mentoring/coaching, and employee development skills
  • Good critical reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Good written & oral communication, listening, and influencing skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Access expertise a plus.
  • Must excel at managing multiple priorities
  • Must be able to interface with all levels of the customer’s organization.

Interactions:

  • Main interaction is with the Location Safety & Quality Managers, peers on the Business unit staff, suppliers, and industry colleagues and organizations

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Business Unit and Location Safety and Environmental Programs including the development and implementation of the Environmental, Health and Safety Program Manual, the administration and control of these programs in accordance with safety (OSHA) and environmental (EPA) requirements, completion and maintenance of OSHA Reports and Logs; conduct of Monthly Safety checks, and required training for all employees. Expected result is minimal findings on external audits and no findings on government inspections.

 

  • Overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Location Quality Assurance Programs, including the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance Manual and Procedures, the administration and control of the program, manual, and procedures in accordance with Federal, State, Local, and Industry codes and regulations including 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1 and 3800, ASME B&PV Code Section III, and N45.2, completion of internal and supplier audits and management reviews, and required training for all employees. Expected result is minimal findings on external audits, no findings on government inspections, and internal audits, supplier audits, and management reviews performed on schedule.

 

  • Responsible for leading breakthrough and continuous improvement initiatives for the Safety and Quality Programs, and reinforcing the use of Visual Management, 5S, Standard Work Instructions, Problem Solving, and continuous improvement at the location level. Responsible for conducting a review of initiatives on a monthly basis.

 

  • Oversee the location Safety & Quality Managers to ensure implementation of the Safety and Quality Programs while supporting the goals of the company. Execute to achieve key operating metric goals for safety, quality, on time delivery, and lead time.

 

  • Lead and/or support the resolution of Quality Program issues in accordance with the Quality Program including root cause analysis, containment and improvement countermeasures, and customer and regulatory reporting, as required.

 

  • Keep upper management informed of any NRC, ASME, customer, personnel, and SQDC issues or concerns

 

  • Maintain ASME and National Board Certificates of Authorization (N, NPT, NR, NB) for products and services

 

  • Coordinate with other departments the planning, scheduling and liaison activities with ASME or NRC for the purposes of audits and or inspections.

 

  • Maintain industry, code, and regulatory knowledge. Interpret and implement, as required, Contracts, Codes, Specifications and Regulatory Requirements into the Safety and Quality Program manuals and/or procedures.

 

  • Ensure compliance with and Business Unit policies.

 

  • Vigorously protect intellectual property.  Secure Confidentiality Agreements whenever proprietary information is shared.

 

  • Provides leadership for positive employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.

 

  • Develop existing employees and attract, hire, and develop new employees, as required. Establish development plans for managers and other direct-reporting personnel.

 

  • Establish performance measurement objectives and review performance periodically. Prepare and conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.

 

  • Support the development of the Strategic Plan, Operating Plan, and Quarterly Forecasts

 

  • Plan, develop and maintain the Director, Safety & Quality budget.

 

  • Responsible for submittal of the Quarterly Forecast.

 

  • Responsible for Weekly Reporting of results.
