Monday & Friday at home – Advancement to a higher level is based on value added to the Company through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments.  Advancement is not automatic, i.e., based solely on time in the job, but will be based on the employee’s performance.

POSITION CONCEPT

The Regulatory Accounting Accountant is responsible for regulatory accounting and reporting functions, including, but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliations, regulatory reporting, budget and forecasting, audit requests, account analysis and special projects as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and peer review journal entries
• Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts
• Prepare and peer review reports filed with regulatory agencies including FERC, EIA and FPSC
• Coordinate month-end closeout responsibilities with outside departments
• Prepare account analysis and research account variances
• Prepare and peer review budgets and forecasts
• Create ad hoc reports and contribute to special projects
• Provide data as requested during rate cases and audits

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited university or college.
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or financial-related field will be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Licenses/Certifications
Preferred:           CPA preferred
Related Experience
Required:            Minimum of 2 years of financial work experience
Preferred:           Minimum of two or more years of financial work experience with regulated utility accounting experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:            Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Self-motivated and detail oriented with advanced analytical and organizational skills; works with minimal supervision and performs well in a deadline driven environment. The ability to engage professionally with leadership and internal/external constituents. Demonstrates judgement and identifies potential process improvements.
Preferred:           Advanced knowledge of with software/systems such as SAP, BPC, Power Plant and Allegro.
