Sr I&C Engineers – SMR Project – REMOTE
Work Location: Remote (w/occasional trips to the site)
Citizenship: US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
Rate: Not Defined / need Candidate’s requested rate (will be non-exempt)
Hours: 40 hrs / wk
Duration: Long Term / ASAP – December 2024 (staff aug for 6 months then offer to go direct)
Position Details:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participating in preparation of design plans and methodologies.
- Ensuring Compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations including applicable CSA, CNSC, IAEA, IEC, IEEE and client relevant design standards and guides.
- Performing design review or design verification on technical documents prepared by others.
- Providing technical guidance and applying sound Engineering principles to resolve technical issues.
- Ensuring the quality, consistency, accuracy, and completeness of engineering deliverables.
- Delivering of all technical engineering deliverables/task within specified timelines and budgets.
- Development and design of preliminary and detailed engineering I&C packages.
- Preparing and/or supervising preparation of Instrumentation and Control related engineering deliverables, including instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, function block logic diagrams, control and monitoring functional descriptions, datasheets, calibration sheets, P&ID’s, material requisitions, tender technical evaluation, evaluation of alternatives and selection of equipment, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves) and bill of materials.
- Participating in cross functional initiatives and interface with multi-disciplinary / cross-functional project teams.
- Preparing or Reviewing Engineering Quotation Requests as well as Tender Technical Evaluations as per quality program and relevant Operating Procedures. · Reviewing vendor designs for compliance with Technical Specifications requirements, applicable industry standards and guidelines as well as participation in FAT as required.
- Providing on-site implementation support for Instrumentation installations as well as participation in SAT as required;
- Performing field walkdown at client site and prepare the walkdown report.
- Supporting the Discipline Lead Engineer with timely updates for engineering progress and performance.
- Preparing engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Managing assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
- Attend site visits and technical meetings as required.
- Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Strong knowledge of Instrumentation and controls system design and applicable codes and standards.
- Past experience in writing test plans and installation & commissioning requirements/ specifications.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong customer focus.
- Strong technical skills and problem-solving capabilities and be able to seek practical solutions to engineering problems.
- High fluency and proficiency in English communication (written and verbal). · Proficiency in Microsoft Office-related software applications, i.e., Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Adaptability to change and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Registered Professional Engineer in good standing (P. Eng);
- Experience with DCS and PLC-based control systems & components is an asset.
Qualifications

- I&C or Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree from a university of recognized standing, plus a minimum of ten years of practical experience preferably in instrumentation and control system design.
- Design experience in the nuclear industry is an asset.
- Design in a power plant environment is an asset.

- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
- Travels to client job sites may be required.
