Senior Instructor – Simulator Change Coordinator
North Anna Nuclear Plant – Mineral, VA
Per Diem: $100 (up to $700 / wk)
Mob / Demob: $500 each
Hours: Full-time
Work Location: On-site Fulltime
Start Date: Start dates can be as early as December/January or could be later in the quarter
Job Summary:
Education and Certifications / Licenses:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, highly preferred
Licenses, Certifications, Qualifications or Standards
Preferred (ANSI Requirements):
- ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.4
Other:
- Reactor Operator (RO) or Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or applicable discipline INPO accredited initial training program or Senior Instructor Training Certification (Dominion) or Certified Instructor meets ANS 3.1 12/79, (Section 4.4.7.2)
- This individual will be responsible for coordinating changes to the three plant simulators for at least five plant upgrade phases
- ANSI 3.5 Certified Operations Training Simulator
- Engineering Grade Hardware-In-Loop Testing and Human Factors Engineering Simulator
- Operations Training Full Scope Glass Top Plant Simulator
This includes:
- Accountability for documenting Digital I&C Upgrade design change technical impacts on the Simulator and coordinating incorporation of those changes by our I&C vendor and our Simulator vendor.
- Regularly attendance of individual project team meetings and working with each project lead engineer to document Simulator impacts
- Providing schedule input and updates to the Master Project Schedule for Simulator related schedule activities
- Communication of scopes for technical changes to each simulator to the Simulator Vendor (Corys) that result from each of the five plant upgrade phases.
- Reviews of simulator change documentation from the Simulator vendor.
- Coordination of shared use of the Engineering Grade Hardware-In-Loop Testing and Human Factors Engineering Simulator between the HFE Team and the Design/Testing Team’s use of the Simulator for Site Acceptance Testing.
Top Required Skills
- Experience as an NRC certified Senior Reactor Operator
- Managing simulator change – Understanding how simulators work
- Must have worked with L3 simulator/Western digital simulator and understand the process by which it changes and what parts of the system needs changes and why
- ANSI3.5 accredited simulator
- Lead responsibility for at least one major Simulator software/hardware upgrade.
Soft skill requirements (team fit and personality requirements):
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a nuclear plant Simulator Manager
- Previous experience managing Corys/GSE/RNI Simulator environments
- Working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and other controls applications, especially Emerson Ovation systems
- Familiarity with nuclear power plant environments
- Familiarity with typical nuclear Piping & Instrument Diagrams (PI&D) and Test Loop Diagrams (TLD)
- Knowledge of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation.
Required Years of Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience working with Simulator Maintenance and upgrades.
- Lead responsibility for at least one major Simulator software/hardware upgrade.
- Previous experience as a nuclear plant Simulator Manager
