Summary Of Responsibilities
Responsible for the delivery of capital project procurement activities for the Client’s Group with responsibility for the development of project specific procurement strategies and the execution of strategic sourcing to meet business partner requirements, maximizing value for Client.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited University.
- Experience: 2-4 Years of Tactical Buying experience.
- Experience in sourcing, negotiation, and management of spend categories
- A proven track record of working with senior stakeholders
Preferred
- Large complex capital projects procurement experience.
- Large project coordination experience.
Physical Requirements/Travel
- Work Schedule: Professional work schedule/ with minimal night/ weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.
- Senior Buyers are a key interface between the Group Procurement and the Group Projects teams. Direct reporting will be to the Capital Projects Procurement Manager. Key interfaces will be with the Group Projects Team, Group Procurement Capital Projects Category Team and Group Legal.
Security Clearance Requirement:
CAA Access and an L or Q level security clearance
Primary Functions
Responsible for the procurement activities associated with the successful delivery of major/complex projects executed via the Group Projects team.
The Capital Projects Senior Buyer role covers all commercial aspects of the acquisition of goods and services associated with the successful delivery of major/complex capital investment projects.
Senior Buyers will be responsible for the implementation of strategic sourcing and supplier management activities to deliver major/complex capital projects.
Senior Buyers will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure effective commercial project management of the end to end sourcing process and the selection and contracting of suppliers.
Change management is a key challenge in the role and Senior Buyers must have expert stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills alongside key technical competencies relating to procurement transactional planning, commercial contract management and supplier relationship management.
Senior Buyers will provide the first line of supplier performance management activities to ensure sustainable and secure supply of goods and services to support ongoing safe and effective operation of Client’s facilities.
Responsible for the development and delivery of bespoke major/complex projects procurement strategies that meet project objectives. Maximize leverage opportunities with existing relationships, especially in relation to core process technology suppliers.
Responsible for selecting contracting methodologies and suppliers, executing contracts to deliver the objectives of major/complex capital investment projects. Providing project management of the end to end strategic sourcing process and coordination of multidisciplinary project teams. Provide appropriate challenge to the status quo setting new expectations for value delivery/service performance of suppliers.
Set negotiation strategies and undertake commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers. Liaise with stakeholders and legal to ensure favorable commercial terms which mitigate business risk and achieve best business results.
Plan and undertake supplier relationship and contract management to ensure service of suppliers meets their contractual obligations, and the value expected from a contract is fully delivered throughout the lifecycle. Liaise with and provide full lifecycle support to Contract Managers and other project team stakeholders as required to ensure project success and supplier performance meets expectations.
Develop and maintain a real time view on the supply market and foster improved relationships between Client and key suppliers.
Optimize value for Client and drive performance improvement by setting standards and developing best practice policies and procedures for capital procurement activities. Deploy to Group Projects stakeholders, project procurement teams and Group Procurement providing appropriate training, tools, techniques, templates.
Active contribution to the ongoing development of functional capabilities to ensure value delivery is sustainable in the long term and functional effectiveness and efficiencies is improved on a continual basis.
Ensure accuracy of data and documentation recorded in key systems to enable compliance and adherence to policies as well as enable efficient P2P processing.
